Even I will tell you some tips that can be followed to avoid these things so let’s move to our guide without wasting more time.
Why Does Firestick Not Working?
There could be various causes behind the device suddenly stopping working. One of the major causes is the broken HDMI Port or HDMI cable.
Because if the cable is not working correctly this will be an issue in that the device is not displaying anything.
Another thing is the remote problem because when the remote doesn’t work you won’t be able to boot. Furthermore, the problem could be a WiFi issue as if it doesn’t receive WiFi signals then you will surely get some problems with it.
Despite this giving your device low power will also cause the not working problem because most people use the TV port instead of the power adapter.
It is also recommended by Amazon itself to use the power adapter to provide the device with proper power.
Instead of this, there are many other issues that may cause this problem in this way we have some solutions for you. Now let’s check the solution that is given below.
How To Solve Firestick Not Working Problem
Here is the list of some most common problems and their solutions that will help you. Somehow if these applications aren’t working for you then simply contact the technical support of Amazon by following the link below: Amazon Firestick Technical Support
1. Remote Issue
Remote issues are a well-known and common problem that prevents this device from working. Most of the time it is because of the damaged batteries and even I faced batteries issue a lot.
Instead of a battery, you should also check if there is an obstacle coming between the TV and the remote. It is because when someone is between your remote and TV there are chances that it won’t work correctly.
Sometimes the problem also comes when you are too far from the TV screen and trying to turn it on using the Remote. Because this device comes with BlueTooth connectivity which has around the 30-fee range.
Even if these things are not working for you then there could be a cause that the remote is damaged. In this way, you will be required to purchase a new Remote from third-party sellers or from Amazon itself.
Instead of this if you think there is a problem with the remote then here is the complete list of fixes and causes of why Remote Not working.
2. Overheating Issue
If Firestick suddenly stops working try to check if the device is overheated or not because sometimes we use the device too much that it became hot.
This is the major issue of unexpected shutdowns of the device and sometimes it doesn’t work.
To solve this problem just remove the Firestick and let it cool for 10-15 minutes now insert it into the port again and check if it is working or not.
If the device start working then you should take care of many things to avoid this problem in the future.
For example, you do not use heavy applications on it because it comes with only 1GB of RAM that doesn’t handle all these processes and becomes warm.
Even though some people multi-task with this small device that is also a reason why it stops working.
Even though sometimes we use it too much without giving it a rest and we face a sudden shutdown. In this way try to give this some rest like unplugging while sleeping or removing the adapter from the socket.
This way you can give it some rest and in the morning you will see the device working perfectly fine.

3. Problem with HDMI Port
This problem is not common but it is listed here because some people have reported their Firestick not working and they try to change the cable and found it is working fine.
In this way, you should also check if it is burnt or have any other issue that is causing the problem.
If you find the dead wire you should immediately buy a new one but make sure it is not a cheap wire. Because this device consumes so much power that can easily damage any cheap file and that’s why we recommend using the fast and quality cable.
Another thing which can cause is the loose connection between the TV and the HDMI port because of this the device doesn’t work properly. In this way, you can follow the below quick steps to resolve this issue:
- Turn off your TV and disconnect the wire of the TV and also make sure to remove the Adapter of the Stick.
- Now remove the Firestick from the TV’s HDMI Port.
- Just wait for around 15 minutes and after this connect to the power cable and insert the power adapter and then wait for 10 minutes.
- After this just Turn on the TV.
- When you see the Boot Screen of the TV now connect the Stick with the HDMI port.
- Using TV Remote open the HDMI section from the source.
- Now press the Remote and check if it is working or not.
If the remote is working fine then you have successfully solved the problem. But If the problem is still there like you have a good wire that is connected tightly then it is not your problem.
You should move to our next solution that maybe help to fix it.
4. Check WiFi
You might be wondering why I am asking to check WiFi. So, the answer is that this device uses WiFi connectivity in the case to work smoothly. Now, for example, it is far from the Firestick so you will face the connectivity issue also you will notice too much buffering as well.
To avoid this problem you have to keep the WiFi router near the device to improve signal strength. Also make sure to remove some obstacles like Wireless Speakers, Microwave, or other wireless objects to prevent losing the WiFi network.
If it is not possible then I would highly recommend using an Ethernet adapter to directly connect your device with a cable. Because it is 100% proven that a cable connection provides more speed and is more stable as compared to a Wireless connection.
5. Change HDMI Port
In most cases, it is recommended to change the HDMI port because sometimes your Fire device may heat a lot which damages the port.
So, by changing the port you will get an idea if the problem is coming with it or not. If the problem is caused by the port then keep using the second port or you should repair the first one as soon as possible.
Instead of this, there could be another problem of lack of power which I already mentioned above. In case you are using the USB port of the TV then you should immediately change it.
Because your TV doesn’t provide proper power to the Stick as it requires that’s why we always recommend using the Power Adapter you are given.
If you already using the power adapter then try to change it because it might get damaged during high electricity voltage.
In this case, you can use the normal charger adapter of your phone or try using it on the USB port to check if the adapter is damaged or not.
6. Speaker Not Working Issue
Audio issues with Firestick are common and I have seen many people who are facing them. If you came here to solve this problem then this is a quick guide that will show you how to fix it.
Since the audio issue has the reason the speaker (3rd-party) you are using isn’t compatible with the TV. Or Audio service is not enabled from Settings even some people forget to enable those third-party speakers to turn on.
Now here is the list of some quick fixes that you can perform to solve the speaker not working issue:
Bad Internet Connection: I have faced this problem a long time ago and I discovered that it is because of my slow internet. Because when we have slow internet we face a lot of buffering and also the audio doesn’t sync with that movie/show. If you have the approach then try to change your internet plan and upgrade it to stream buffer-free and avoid this issue too.
HDMI Cable: I know it looks a little bit creepy but sometimes the Firestick itself creates this issue so in this case, we have to unplug the device from the HDMI port and try to replug it. If the problem is still there then make sure to try changing the HDMI cable.
TV Settings: In most cases, people only face these types of issues because of having bad Settings. To understand it here is what you need to do:
- Check if the TV is not muted and increase the volume using the TV remote (because some movies may have a lower sound).
- If you are using the A/V then make sure to enable the Receiver and also try to remove and insert the cables again.
- If these are fine then go to Settings > then go to Display & Sounds > After this select the Audio from the menu > Now turn off the Dolby Digital Plus. Exit settings and play music or a movie to check if the problem is there or not.
Reinstall App: There could be a bug in the app that you are using so reinstalling that app could be a good idea. Here is how you can uninstall the app from Firestick.
From the FireStick home screen hover above and select Settings > move forward and select Applications > Open Manage Installed Applications > Choose the App you want to uninstall and press the Ok button > From there select Uninstall > If a prompt appears choose Uninstall and the app will be removed.
This could be useful while you are using any third-party app like Kodi which is a media player. Or other free applications that provide live streaming and other sorts of entertainment.
Restart: If the above steps don’t help then you should just restart your device. It’s not difficult but still, some people know how to perform. You should follow the below steps to learn the easiest way to reboot this device.
7. Restart Device
You just tried all these methods but none of them helped to solve the problem? Well! maybe a simple restart will fix the issue.
Yes, sometimes restarting a machine fixes many things as it deletes all the caches stored in the device when it was running.

In this way you can save your files otherwise these will be removed from it and this action is not reversible. Ok, so here are the steps that you can follow to factory reset your device easily to solve some unexpected problems.
